About Us

Water Polo Australia (WPA) is the national governing body for the sport of water polo in Australia. It is charged with the development and education of water polo players, officials, coaches and volunteers throughout Australia and with the conduct of competitions and championships for all levels of participation, interdependently with its Members and others.

The sport is governed by a conference of all states and territories which elect six Directors to the WPAL Board. In addition to these six Directors, there are two appointed Directors and one Athletes' Commission representative. The executive directs the day-to-day activities of the association through a National Office based in Sydney.

The mission of Water Polo Australia is to create success today, inspire tomorrow and be a team for life. Our vision is to make our sport your sport, through empowering our team, growing the number of people who play water polo, inspiring others through our national teams and engaging our community.

Water Polo offers the opportunity for participants aged six years old to masters to enjoy Australia’s favourite aquatics team sport. There are thousands of water polo competitions taking place right around the country.

Water Polo Australia’s strategic direction is overseen by the WPAL Board. The Board has developed a strategic plan that guides the long time vision for the sport along with the day-to-day operational priorities.
