Aussie Junior Women’s Team headed for World Champs

Australia’s Junior Women’s team is headed for Europe for the FINA World Championships in Greece.

First stop for the team is Martfu, Hungary for a warm up Tournament against Hungary and Croatia.

Then it’s on to the FINA World Championships in Volos from  3-9 September.

As part of the build up to the tour the team have had a series of training camps, including  with the World Uni Games team in Sydney.

Speaking from the camp, Tess Hoskings said the team has come together really well and they’re looking forward to matching it with the top international teams.

“We had a ten day camp with the World Uni Games team and it was really good to see both teams improved drastically over the short amount of time.

“It was good to see the team getting to know each other well and working out new plays and combinations,” said Hoskings.

While the team have a tough draw in the pool stages, facing hosts Greece in game one as well as China and Russia, Hoskings said they’re prepared for the tough matches.

“We don’t want to go into any games thinking it’s going to be easy. There will be teams that are stronger than others but we’ll want to go into every game with as much intensity as the last,” she said.

The FINA World Junior Women’s Championships will feature 16 teams across the seven day tournament.
