New Member Orientation

New player and family engagement is critical to ensuring participants have the best possible experience at your club. An orientation session is the first step is this process. It can be conducted at the first training session, or at a specific event or meeting where people can get to know each other.

The orientation session should include:

  • Introduction to club volunteers, coaches, and player leadership groups
  • Explanation of club values, philosophy, and code of conducts for players and parents
  • Explanation of how the club program and competitions work and outline any special rules around age groups or grades.
  • Discussion on what the players will get out of the season i.e., skill development, fun, social connections etc.
  • Sharing of important info e.g., season dates, training times, venues, uniforms equipment requirements.
  • Explanation on how you will communicate to players, parents, and families.
  • Promotion of opportunities for parents or family members to assist the club.
  • Time for questions, answers and discussion, so new participants and their families feel valued and ready to be part of the club.
