The Australian 20&U Men’s team are putting the finishing touches on their preparations for the World Aquatics Men’s U20 World Championships which gets underway on Saturday 10 June in Bucharest, Romania.
The team have spent the last few weeks training in Europe, before travelling to Romania for the World Championships.
The U20 World Championships will be contested by 20 nations, including the world’s heavy hitting water polo nations Serbia, Spain, Hungary and USA.
The Aussie young guns have drawn Group F and will play against Argentina and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the pool rounds.
Queensland’s Max Culleton said it’s been a great training camp and he’s looking forward to the World Championships getting underway.
“It’s been a really good time, we’ve had a tough hit out against the Montenegro Juniors and had the privilege to play against the Chinese senior men,” Culleton said.
“And we’ve had some tough games against the Dutch Juniors as well. But it’s been really good, we’ve learnt a lot and spent a lot of good time together with the boys,” he said.
Teammate Will Valentine said the training camp has given the team a confidence boost heading into the World Championships.
“The boys are feeling confident, we’ve had some great hit outs against Montenegro, China and the Netherlands,” Valentine said.
“It’s been great preparation, we’re feeling fit and strong and ready to get stuck in,” he said.

The Aussies will play their first game against Argentina on Sunday 11 June at 5.30pm AEST.
