ORD MINNETT AUSSIE SHARKS SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

With the countdown to the 2024 Paris Olympics well and truly on, Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks squad for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha next month.
Set to take place from 2-18 February, the World Aquatics Championships will be an important milestone in preparation for the Games.
Having recently prevailed over Japan two games to one in the Ord Minnett Test Match Series in Brisbane, the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks will look to test themselves against their Olympic competition and improve on their final placing of 10th at last year's World Aquatics Championships.
Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks Head Coach Tim Hamill said: “We’re probably one of the few teams in the world that has been really happy to have three World Championships in back-to-back years, as we need as many international games as we can leading into Paris.
“In our group we have the current European Championships gold and silver medalists, Spain and Croatia, as well as South Africa. It will be a challenging couple of matches in the group phase, but we’d prefer to have hard matches now as we feel that’s what is best in our preparations for Paris.
“We’ve been building really nicely over the last couple of months, and we’ve got many of the preparation pieces in place especially after our camp with Japan in Queensland.
“Even though Japan are unique, what you always end up with after training with them for two weeks is a great conditioning base.
“We’ll fly out to Doha on Friday to train with the USA - they are a great team to train with and perfect opponent for us to finalise our preparations against,” he said.
