Volunteering or working at AYWPC offers an immersive and exhilarating experience that combines the thrill of sports with the satisfaction of contributing to a dynamic event.  

 Water Polo Australia (WPA) is calling for pool controllers for the upcoming 2025 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC).

  • Week 1 | 14-18 April 2025: 18&U and 14&U age groups
  • Week 2 | 20-24 April 2025: 16&U and 12&U age groups 

As a volunteer/paid contractor, you will find yourself at the heart of the action, assisting in various roles that ensure the smooth operation of this prestigious tournament. From acting as a pool controller, entering results, assisting with Test Match ticketing, or working as a First Aid officer or helping set up the vibrant venue atmosphere, you will be an essential part of creating a seamless and exciting event for participants, spectators, and fellow volunteers alike.  

Engaging with athletes, coaches, and spectators, you will witness the passion and dedication that fuel the world of youth water polo. Beyond the exhilarating matches, you will gain a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, knowing that your efforts directly impact the success of the championship, and the memories created for everyone involved.  

This volunteering opportunity promises not only a deeper connection to the sport but also a chance to contribute to the growth of youth water polo in Australia. 

The purpose of the Pool Controller is to ensure that the day to day running of the venue is maintained throughout the competition. 

  • The pool/venue set up is in accordance with the requirements as per the Competitions Manual. 

  • The management of the appointed officials and table duty throughout the day. 

 Responsibilities and Duties:  (not limited to)

  • WPA point of contact for Venue 

  • WPA point of contact for Referees & Table Officials 

  • Lead setup & pack down Pool (Clocks, Cones, balls etc) 

  • Ensure table officials are in position for their shifts, as per the roster 

  • Send Score Cards to results 

  • Fill out injury reports and other documentations, as required.
