AUSTRALIAN WATERPOLO LEAGUE
It was an action packed day of Australian Waterpolo League action on Sunday, with six games, three venues and goals galore.

WOMEN: ACU CRONULLA SHARKS 9 d UNSW WESTS KILLERWHALES 8
Hot off the back of a bronze medal in the Water Polo NSW Sydney Super League, ACU Cronulla Sharks stamped their authority on the Australian Waterpolo League competition, claiming a one goal victory over UNSW Wests Killerwhales.
In their home pool at Sutherland, Cronulla were eager to impress in their round 6 game.
Leading the charge, with three crucial goals, was American import player Danijela Jackovich, closely followed by veteran Pinky Rewi Hency with two goals.
In the end, Cronulla managed to hold their opponents at bay, claiming a 9-8 victory in front of a home crowd.
MEN: ACU CRONULLA SHARKS 2 DEF BY UNSW WESTS MAGPIES 8
In the second game of the day at Sutherland Leisure Centre, UNSW Wests Magpies managed to extend their undefeated run, claiming a six goal victory over home side Cronulla.
Tokyo Olympian Nathan Power was formidable in attack for the Magpies, scoring six goals of his own to help his side to a victory.
WOMEN: DRUMMOYNE DEVILS 9 DEF BY UTS BALMAIN TIGERS 12
For the third game of the day, attention turned to Drummoyne Swimming Centre for the Battle of the Bridge between Drummoyne Devils and UTS Balmain Tigers.
Having won the recent KAP7 Cup in Sydney, Drummoyne Devils were looking to continue their strong form.
But UTS Balmain Tigers managed to cause an upset, defeating the home side 12-9.
Katie Dudley was the top goal scorer for Balmain, with four goals of her own, closely followed by young gun and Australian Junior Women’s squad member Sienna Hearn with three.
MEN: DRUMMOYNE DEVILS 8 D UTS BALMAIN TIGERS 5
In the final game of the day in Sydney, Drummoyne Devils and UTS Balmain Tigers put it all on the line in a bid for crucial points on the 2022 Australian Waterpolo League ladder.
A sensational 4-0 first quarter set the Devils up for victory, and it was a margin that the Tigers were unable to close.
There were goals galore, with Devils Sam Slobodien (1), Aidan Roach (2), Mitch Emery (2), Lazar Pasuljevic (1), Marko Marceta (1) and captain/coach Blake Edwards (1) all adding their names to the scoresheet.
In the end, it was Drummoyne Devils with an 8-5 win.
KAP7 CUP (WESTERN AUSTRALIA)
The KAP7 Cup (Western Australia) got underway on Saturday, with the first of five matches played between Fremantle Water Polo Club and UWA Torpedoes.
The weather really turned it on at Bicton Pool, and the teams bought the heat in the water, with two close games.
Fremantle Marlins and Mariners got the Series off to a flying start, claiming wins in both the men’s and women’s.
