Younger’s Double helps Ferencvaros to European Super Cup

Dual Olympian and Aussie Sharks captain Aaron Younger has helped spear Hungarian Club side Ferencvaros to a sensational victory in the European Super Cup over the weekend.
In the process Younger has claimed his second Super Cup title in as many years after helping former club side Szolnok to victory in 2017.
Younger, who recently captained Australia to a silver medal at the FINA World Cup, was part of the formidable side who delivered a dramatic 11-9 win over Greek Club side Olmypiacos.
It’s been a big year for the Perth product who signed with Ferencvaros back in June, was crowned Player of the Tournament at the FINA World Cup and was also part of the LEN European Champions League finals.
Up against Greek team Olympiacos, Younger’s Budapest based team used their home pool advantage to inspire them to the Super Cup trophy.
Younger opened the scoring with a goal for Ferencvaros. Olympiacos quickly responded with two consecutive goals to take the lead.
Ferencvaros trailed 2-4 at halftime, but after the break they returned as a different team, moving quickly to lock scores up at 4-4.
In a match which saw plenty of drama, the title was decided with a penalty shootout after scores were tied 7-7, whhich saw Younger again step up and net his penalty to help guide Ferencvaros to victory.
For Ferencvaros this is their third European Super Cup in their history and caps off a successful year after winning the LEN European Cup and Hungarian Championship in 2018.
