After three days of fierce competition great team spirit is on display as the final stages of the preliminary rounds come to close at the 2020 KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.
Teams are putting it all on the line as the all important cross over matches will determine who goes on to finals.
The energy around all pools across Brisbane is high, with competitors relishing the opportunity to take on interstate rivals.
Victoria’s Melbourne Collegians Tigers 18&U females, are relishing their time in at the AYWPC and ready for a tough battle towards the finals.
“Quite good, we’ve played six games and we’ve won four… we’ve done quite well so we’re pretty happy,” said Carly Flahive.
“We are hoping we can make the top eight… but we’ll have to fight pretty hard.
“We’ve got a couple of interstate and overseas players and getting to know them and playing the interstate teams has been good experience for us,” she said.
The Melbourne Collegians Tigers are planning to head along to tomorrow night’s first Australia vs USA test match games and they were quite clear who’ll they’ll be cheering on… fellow Victorian Rowie Webster!
Brisbane Barracuda’s 14&U Boys team members, Sterling Kerr, summed up the spirit of the KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships nicely.
“It’s been a great experience, hanging out with my team. Win or lose it doesn’t matter, it’s just been great,” he said.
