The rain wasn’t going to dampen anyone’s mood, with the 12&U and 16&U teams excited for the week of water polo ahead.

Sunshine Coast 12&U player Lachie Caple said his team was excited to travel to Brisbane for the KAP7 AYWPC.

“It’s amazing to come here and play against teams from all across Australia,” Caple said.

“The boys have been having fun so far and we’re looking forward to playing heaps of water polo,” he said.

Alix Fairley from All Hallows Blue 16&U Girls said that her team was looking forward to gain some experience against different styles of play.

“The teams here are a lot tougher than the ones we normally play against in the Brisbane competition,” Fairley said.

“It’s such a good experience to play against people from all across Australia, their experience and their skills are so different from ours.”

Fairley said that her favourite part of day one was getting to watch her KAP7 Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers idols taking on the USA.

“Being able to watch the test matches was a great learning experience.”

Games were played across five venues, with competition set to take over Brisbane pools for the next five days.

In other news in Brisbane, the KAP7 Aussie Sharks came out victorious over USA Men last night in the third and final test match with a 14-8 final score line, the win securing them the series title.
