Melville Marlins 16&U Girls have had some positive results, today defeating rivals UWA Gold and Sydney Uni Gold.

Charlie Regan said that her side is using the opportunity to develop how they work together as a team.

“We’ve had a few tough games but overall we’ve done a pretty good job in our defence and attack,” Regan said.

“We’ve been able to keep up with the games and work together as a team - it’s been pretty fun so far,” she said.

Regan said that there is something special about the atmosphere in Brisbane and that her team are lapping it up at every opportunity.

“The atmosphere around the games, both in and out of the pool, is just so amazing and I really hope that it continues for the rest of the tournament,” she said.

Local team North Brisbane Polo Bears' Isaac McCarthy, son of Sydney 2000 Olympic Gold Medallist Naomi McCarthy, said that his team is just enjoying having teams from all across Australia in their home city.

“We’ve learnt a lot this week so far and it’s good to see how many teams have come to Brisbane for the championships,” McCarthy said.

“I definitely think it’s an amazing experience getting to play against teams from all across Australia and we can take this opportunity and learn from it,” he said.
