Week 8 of the Australian Waterpolo League (AWL) did not disappoint as many of the teams set out to make a last minute push for the finals.

UNSW WESTS MAGPIES/KILLER WHALES v CRONULLA SHARKS
This week’s rounds of high quality matches kicked off at the Ashfield Aquatic Centre, with the UNSW Wests Magpies and Killer Whales taking on the Cronulla Sharks.
In the men’s games, the Magpies proved why they are sitting in second place on the AWL ladder, defeating the Sharks 18-10 on Saturday and 19-13 on Sunday.
In the women’s games, Olympic silver medallist Danijela Jackovich's 13 goal scoring blitz over the weekend helped secure 15-7 and 16-11 wins for the Sharks over the Killer Whales.
UTS BALMAIN TIGERS v HUNTER HURRICANES
Both UTS Balmain Tigers sides came out the other side of the weekend with premiership points, after facing the Hunter teams in a double header.
In the women’s game, 16-8 and 19-5 wins over the Hurricanes has helped the Tigers in their hunt to secure a top four spot heading into the finals.
In the men’s game, a couple of tight contests saw the Tigers walk away with 14-13 and 13-11 wins over Hunter Hurricanes.
SYDNEY UNI LIONS v UWA TORPEDOES
The Sydney Uni Lions flew to Perth this weekend to take on the UWA Torpedoes.
In the men’s games, the ladder leading Torpedoes proved too good for the visitors, winning 18-12 on Saturday and 15-12 on Sunday.
In the women’s games, a dominant display saw the Sydney Uni Lions return home with another two wins under their belts after defeating the Torpedoes 13-9 and 12-7.
