The 16&U Girls Gold title was decided in a thrilling penalty shoot out final between SNB Breakers and Mermaids Pink.
Both teams went goal for goal the whole match, with four quarters not being enough time to obtain a result, it was a penalty shootout that saw the SNB Breakers emerge victorious winning 12-11.
SNB Breakers coach Stefano Salvi was filled with pride, saying his team has been working towards a result like this for a long time.
“It was amazing - the game was amazing because we had in front of us an incredible opponent,” said Stefano.
“The game was balanced - part of it was in their favour and part of it in ours. My girls were just amazing, it was such an effort and so glad that finally they got a gold medal at this tournament, because they’ve been chasing it for so many years.
“This club is everything - I’ve been coaching for other clubs as well, and when I joined the Breakers it just felt like home. That warmth and nice environment - SNB is my club and it’s as simple as that.”
16&U Boys Gold | Sydney Uni Lions Blue 20 d UWA Bears 7

Lions captain Henry was super impressed with the way the team played throughout the entirety of the competition.
“We worked really hard, and we got there in the end,” said Henry. “I think all the work we've done for the past year, it's all led up to this and I think we earned it in the end.
“The competition (UWA) were very tough at the start, we had to grind away, but we ran away with it at the end, and that was a testament to all our hard work.”
