Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce the Australian team that will compete at the FINA World Men’s Junior Water Polo Championships from 12-20 December in Kuwait.
Players from across the country, including New South Wales, Queensland, ACT, and Western Australia have been selected for the 13 man squad.
The Australians have drawn a competitive pool, set to take on Brazil, Americas 4, Greece and New Zealand in the group rounds.
Australian team Head Coach Andrew Yanitsas said the selection process was considerably challenging due to the quality and hard work of all involved.
“We are pleased to have a nice mix of younger and older players in the team,” Yanitsas said.
Ahead of the FINA World Junior Championships, the Aussies will embark on a two-week tour of Europe.
Yanitsas said this will be the first time the Born ‘99 age group has toured to Europe since 2014.
“We are looking forward to seeing how the boys have developed as athletes in the last five years ahead of the World Championships,” he said.
