The Australian Cadet Girls squad have wrapped up their tour of New Zealand with a silver medal, after finishing second in the NZ Water Polo 18&U National Championships in Christchurch.
The Australian Cadet Girls travelled to New Zealand for a training camp at the New Zealand National Training Centre in Auckland, before heading to Christchurch for the 3-day competition.
Cadet Girls Head Coach Georgina Kovacs-Muller said it was a great tour and learning opportunity for the group.
“The exposure to international water polo, travel and everything that comes with it proved very beneficial for our girls,” Kovacs-Muller said.
“Over the past sevens days we have grown together as a team, practiced our systems and performed better game by game.
“Being part of the NZ National Championships final was an experience in itself and I’m proud of the girls for winning silver.
“There are plenty of learnings to take away both as a team and individual players, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this experience will impact the future development of these athletes,” she said.
Water Polo Australia would like to thank New Zealand Water Polo for their support and assistance with this tour. Also to the parents who travelled to New Zealand to support our next generation.
