Aussie Sharks ready to take on Benu Cup in Budapest

The Aussie Sharks continue their preparations for September’s FINA World Cup as they prepare to compete in the BENU Cup later this week in Budapest.

As part of the 2018 BENU Cup presented by the Hungarian Water Polo Federation, Australia will battle it out against Hungary, Romania and USA across three days of competition starting Thursday, July 5.

The competition will provide the team with a great opportunity to put all the systems and structures they have been focusing on after almost four weeks of training and competition as part of the recent European tour.

The Aussie Sharks will head into this tournament with a solid preparation after training camps against Croatia, as well as taking sixth-place in the recent FINA World League Super Final.

Australia will be look to improve on their recent 5-12 loss against hosts Hungary as part of the World League Super Final, and look at the positives from their wins over Japan and Kazakhstan.

After reaching the sixth-place playoff in the tournament courtesy of a finals victory over Kazakhstan, the team created multiple chances against reigning World Champions Croatia but were unable to capitalise.

In the end the Aussie Sharks were narrowly edged out by Croatia 8-10 and will look to take confidence from their sixth place at the World League Super Final into this tournament.
