Aussie Sharks Towards Tokyo 2020

Water Polo Australia has launched a fundraising campaign through the Australian Sports Foundation to support the Aussie Sharks campaign for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

With the 2020 Olympic Games around the corner, the Aussie Sharks campaign has well and truly kicked into next gear as they continue their goal to make Australian history at the next Games.

On the back of an outstanding 12 months, that saw the team win a historic silver medal at the 2018 World Cup and bronze at the FINA World League Super Final, the squad is in red hot form and tracking well to achieve their goal of a podium result at the Olympic Games.

While WPA does receive support through the Australian Institute of Sport for the men’s high performance program, in order to give the squad the best opportunity in Tokyo, WPA is calling on the community to help support the players.

Through the Australian Sports Foundation, a fundraising page has been established to help cover the funding gaps for the preparation for Tokyo

Money raised through the Australian Sports Foundation will go to supporting the Aussies Sharks:

• By giving the squad more assembly time as a team, which means covering travel costs to train together
• Competition and training opportunities with the best teams in the World, both on Australian soil and abroad.
• Money raised will ensure the squad can attend international competitions ahead of Tokyo.
• Continue to allow the squad to access to the best and trusted team of coaches and support staff
• Direct athlete support.
