Aussie Stingers Coaching Update

Water Polo Australia (WPA) today confirmed that current Australian Women’s Water Polo team coach Paul Oberman is stepping down as Head Coach due to personal reasons.
Oberman, who took over the helm in November 2021, made the decision to step down from the position on Monday.
“Water Polo Australia has accepted Paul’s resignation as Head Coach of the Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers,” said WPA CEO Tim Welsford.
“Paul has provided a valuable contribution to our Women’s program having led them to a fourth-place position at the 2023 World Championship earlier this year and helping Australia secure their Olympic quota for the Paris Games.
“Paul has prioritised his and his family’s health and wellbeing during this moment. His passion and commitment to the sport are unquestioned and we are hopeful that he will come back to our sport in the future,” said Welsford.
