GAME 5: AUSTRALIA 10 d SLOVENIA 8

The Australian Cadet men have notched up a win against Slovenia in the 5-8 playoffs (gold division) overnight at the FINA Cadet Men's World Championships.

Leading from the outset, the Aussies capitalised on their one goal lead in the first quarter and managed to hold onto the win until the end.

Smith Connors was the top goal scorer for the Aussies, with a hatrick. Daniel Magasanik and Auguste Korac scored two each, with Ashton Brown, Pavle Macic and Nicholas Mordes also adding their names to the scoresheet with one goal each.

Sydney Uni's Zac Izzard said the win gave his team a much needed confidence boost, after a couple of tough losses.

"The tour has been amazing in Greece so far, it's been a great experience coming up against the top teams in the world," Izzard said.

"It was good to get the win today against Slovenia, it was a tough game but a win is a win.

"We've got Germany next now, and we're really looking forward to it," he said.

GAME 3: AUSTRALIA 8 def by GREECE 15

The Australian Cadet men have lost their third match of their FINA Cadet Men's World Championships campaign in Greece.

Faced with a tough task of taking of European powerhouses Greece at home, the Aussie men were right in it for the whole game.

But in the third quarter, the experience of Greece shone through, edging them ahead before an eventual 7-goal win fell in their favour.

Nicholas Mordes said it was a fight until the end, and unfortunate to not be able to get the job done.

"We fought through the whole game, but the better team on the day won in the end," Mordes said.

"Tomorrow we've got Brazil and we're keen to play them. We're all fired up and ready to go.

"That was a tough game but I couldn't be more proud of the boys, and stuck together right through that game," he said.
