Staged annually in Hong Kong, the event is the host nation’s most celebrated water polo event. In 2018 the tournament attracted 13 men’s and 4 women’s teams.
In addition to the tournament, the Australian teams will participate in a training camp leading into competition, with the teams’ official tour beginning on 12 August. This will provide selected players a great opportunity to experience an international tour and competition.
Teams were selected in accordance with WPA’s selection policy following the 2019 Australian Country Championships held on the Gold Coast between 15-18 May 2019.
The 2019 Australian Country Championships was attended by more than 200 athletes and team officials in teams representing the country regions of their home State.
