Rounds seven and eight of the Australian Waterpolo League took place over the weekend with plenty of exciting action.

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

MEN | Sydney Uni Lions v ACU Cronulla Sharks

The Sydney Uni Lions had a perfect weekend against the ACU Cronulla Sharks with near-identical scorelines in their home and away victories.

On Friday night the Lions won 14-9 at Sydney University's Peter Montgomery Pool, then on Sunday they travelled to Sutherland Leisure Centre where they scored a 13-9 victory.

MEN | Drummoyne Devils v UNSW Wests Magpies

With just one win to their credit going into the match, Drummoyne Devils held the table-topping UNSW Wests Magpies to a 5-all draw at Drummoyne Swimming Pool on Saturday evening.

The Magpies regrouped at home the following day however, scoring a 12-6 victory at Ashfield Aquatic Centre to stay level with Sydney Uni at the top of the competition ladder.

MEN | UWA Torpedoes v UTS Balmain Tigers

The UWA Torpedoes and UTS Balmain Tigers have split their round seven and eight encounters at HBF Stadium Aquatic Centre.

The Tigers clearly adjusted well to the time difference with a 13-6 victory on Saturday night, however the hosts were able to turn the tables on Sunday morning with a tight 10-9 win.

WOMEN | Sydney Uni Lions v ACU Cronulla Sharks

In the tightest of battles, just one goal separated Sydney Uni Lions and ACU Cronulla Sharks over the course of their weekend encounters.

On Friday night, the Lions managed a tight 11-10 victory in their home pool, however nothing could split the two sides which played out a 9-all draw at Sutherland Leisure Centre on Sunday. 

WOMEN | Fremantle Marlins v Griffith University Queensland Thunder

Fremantle Marlins solidified their position at the top of the competition table with a pair of weekend victories in Brisbane to remain undefeated.

On Saturday night the Marlins beat Griffith University Queensland Thunder 11-7, returning the following day for an 11-8 win.

WOMEN | UWA Torpedoes v UTS Balmain Tigers

UWA Torpedoes and UTS Balmain Tigers have walked away from rounds seven and eight with a win apiece following their matches in Perth.

On Saturday night the Tigers edged the home side 11-10, however the Torpedoes came back with a vengeance on Sunday morning in a dominant 11-5 victory.

SOUTHERN CROSS CUP

MEN | FYFE Adelaide/Hobart Jets v Fremantle Mariners

FYFE Adelaide/Hobart Jets' winless start to the season continued at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre with Fremantle Mariners enjoying back-to-back wins across the weekend.

The Mariners scored a 14-9 win on Saturday afternoon before claiming victory in an 18-11 goalfest on Sunday.

MEN | Griffith University Queensland Thunder v Victorian Phoenix

Victorian Phoenix remain at the head of the Southern Cross Cup ladder following a successful trip to Brisbane.

On Saturday the visitors recorded a 17-7 victory over Griffith University Queensland Thunder and followed it up with a 12-6 win on Sunday.

WOMEN | UNSW Wests Killerwhales v Victorian Phoenix 

UNSW Wests Killerwhales remain undefeated this season after a pair of convincing victories in rounds sevena and eight.

On Saturday, the Killerwhales defeated Victorian Phoenix 9-5 at St Catherine's Aquatic Centre before another four goal win on Sunday, scoring a 10-6 win at Ashfield Aquatic Centre.

WOMEN | FYFE Adelaide/Hobart Jets v Drummoyne Devils

Drummoyne Devils remain perfect after six matches of the Southern Cross Cup following a pair of seven-goal victories over FYFE Adelaide/Hobart Jets in Adelaide.

The Devils backed up their 11-4 result on Saturday with a 14-7 win on Sunday to improve their season record to six victories without defeat.
