AYWPC Day 1 Highlights

Published Sat 12 Jan 2019

Perfect Brisbane conditions greeted competitors and spectators for the opening day of the inaugural Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.

One of the first games to be played at the new event featured home side Brisbane Barracudas and Sydney based UTS Balmain Tigers in the 18&U Girls division.

After kickstarting their tournament with a great 9-5 win at Brisbane Aquatic Centre, the ‘Barras’ head coach Manon Jones said the team felt the home pool advantage.

“It was great having the crowd in our favour and trying to bring it home in front of them will be very exciting.

“The goal is to get into the gold medal match. We wanted to see how we went this morning, it’s looking very promising.”
