BRISBANE TO HOST ORD MINNETT AUSSIE SHARKS AND AUSSIE STINGERS MATCHES AHEAD OF 2024 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS SELECTION

As the Paris Olympic Games fast approaches, Water Polo Australia is excited to announce Brisbane will host the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks and Stingers international matches as part of the  2024 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.

Their last chance to impress selectors ahead of  2024 World Championships team selection, both the Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers and Aussie Sharks will play in a three test match series on 8, 10 and 12 of January.

The Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks will match up against Japan, while the Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers will play a Green v Gold series.

The Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks last met Japan at the 2023 World Championships, with the Aussies sneaking home to claim a one point victory (16-15).

While for the Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers, the green v gold exhibition games will offer the squad the chance to impress selectors as they look to better their 4th place result from the 2023 World Championships .

Water Polo Australia CEO Tim Welsford said: “2024 is set to be another exciting year for our Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers, as preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games heat up.

“We are excited that both squads will be able to join us in Brisbane for our annual festival of water polo, and for a chance to engage with and inspire the next generation.

“With both squads set to depart for Doha in late January, this will be the last chance to see the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers in action on home soil before the 2024 World Championships,” he said.
