Celebrating Father’s Day with Aussie Sharks captain Aaron Younger

Not only did Aussie Sharks captain Aaron Younger become a three time Olympian in Tokyo, but also a father of two!
While he was representing his country at the Olympics, he and his wife welcomed their second child, Emilia, to the world.
This Father’s Day, Younger will be enjoying spending time with both of his children.
“Emilia is settling into the family well - her brother Russell is stoked with his new duties so my wife and I are really happy with how things are going,” Younger said.
“Having kids has definitely been life changing for me, it has changed my perspective and the priorities in life.
“But it’s also created moments that you wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Living around the world does make things complicated, my wife has done an incredible job supporting the kids and I,” he said.
While there are many lessons Younger has learnt through sport, he hopes that his children will have the same opportunities one day.
“I believe sport is definitely an important part of a child’s development, not just for the sport itself but for what being involved in a sporting group and community can teach you,” Younger said.
“Sport has definitely been such a large part of mine and my wife’s lives, so I hope our children will take up sport in some form.
“We will give them all the opportunities they need, but as to what sport they want to play and at what level they want to compete will be totally up to them,” he said.
Currently back in Italy, where he is training with European powerhouse club Pro Recco, Younger sent his best wishes to all the water polo fathers back home.
“Firstly, Happy Father’s Day to my dad back in Perth - unfortunately we haven’t been able to meet in almost two years now, but hopefully soon,” Younger said.
“And of course a Happy Father’s Day to all the dads in the water polo community,” he said.
