Consistency the key in All Hallows gold medal victory

Consistency was key for All Hallows in their win against SNB Breakers in the 12&U gold medal match at the 2020 KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.
Both teams scored early in the first quarter, and the scores remained level for the remainder of the first half.
But it was the third quarter where All Hallows ran away with it scoring two goals courtesy of Sara Connors and Ellie Sefton.
All Hallows were able to hold out SNB in the final quarter, taking a 3-1 in the end.
All Hallows coach Phoebe Powell said she was proud of her team for pulling it together when it mattered.
“I think with under 12s its so unpredictable, anything can happen once they’re in the pool,” Powell said.
“But today I think we played our game and didn’t worry too much about the other team.”
Powell had nothing but praise for her team’s defence, saying it was in fact what earnt them the win.
“When we’re up, it’s just about protecting the ball and defending well, but also not forgetting that we still have to attack,” Powell said.
“And I think that’s what the girls did really well in the third quarter today.”
In the 12&U bronze medal match, it was Polo Bears who defeated Mermaids Pink 9-2 to claim the bronze medal.
Polo Bears number 11 Bless Daly was named Most Valuable Player, with Charlotte Blain from All Hallows named as Most Valuable Goal Keeper.
