Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce that the Country & Masters Championships will be held at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre from 26 to 29 May 2021.
The tournament will be capped off with a Beach Water Polo Fours exhibition on 30 May which will be held at the adjacent Broadwater Parklands, creating five days of exciting water polo action.
The events were unable to be held in 2020 during to COVID-19, with the aim to bring together the three water polo communities for another great water polo festival to cap off the 2020-2021 events calendar.
Water Polo Australia CEO, Richard McInnes, said: “We are pleased to have dates confirmed for the Country & Masters Championships, after the postponement of the event in 2020.
“While COVID-19 is very much a watching brief, we hope the May dates will provide ample time to see border restrictions easing as well as ensure we meet our COVID safe plans that we have in place for all water polo events.
“We know that there is strong interest among our masters competitors and providing a dedicated national championship is a great opportunity to bring together this growing playing group. The Country Championships will return to our calendar and we are excited to have the events played alongside one of the fastest growing forms of the game, Beach Water Polo Fours.
“The three events will be managed by KAP7 General Manager and Beach Water Polo Fours Founder, Scott Nicholson, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise in delivering major water polo events,” said McInnes.
The Country Championships will be open to competitors geographically located within a regional area (determined by State Associations) and for the purpose of these Championships will include Clubs from Wollongong, Newcastle, Central Coast and Gold Coast region. The Masters Championships are eligible for players aged 30 years and above. For full details - click here.
