All eight teams descended on Ashfield Aquatic Centre for the day one action of the KAP7 Cup.
With Olympians past, present and future all across the pool, it was a water polo showcase not to be missed.
GAME 1: DRUMMOYNE DEVILS V SYDNEY UNI LIONS MEN
Drummoyne took an early lead in the first quarter, with the return of Lachy Edwards bolstering the ranks.
Sydney Uni Lions were on the prowl in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough to stop the dominant display from the men in red who extended their lead out to a handy 14-7.
In the end, the lead was too much to comeback from, with Drummoyne taking the win in the first game of the KAP7 Cup, 17-9.
GAME 2: DRUMMOYNE DEVILS V SYDNEY UNI LIONS WOMEN
With the Aussie Stingers returning from the Sunshine Coast to compete in the KAP7 Cup, both teams were out in full force.
Rio Olympian Zoe Arancini has been drafted to the Drummoyne Devils for the weekend, bringing a wealth of experience and scoring two goals for her ‘new’ team.
But it wasn’t enough to stop the Sydney Uni Lions pride, who’s Aussie Stingers squad members scored a haul of goals to help their team to a 15-9 win. Rio Olympian Keesja Gofers the top scorer on 7, Tilly Kearns with 3 and Hannah Buckling on 1.
GAME 3: UTS BALMAIN TIGERS V ACU CRONULLA SHARKS WOMEN
There were Aussie Stingers right across the pool in the third game of the day, with Gabi Palm and Alice Williams drafted to Balmain to join Aussie Stingers team mates Pascalle Casey and Rowie Webster.
Rio Olympian Lea Yanitsas, and Tokyo Hopefuls Amy Ridge and Bronte Halligan joined their national team mates Lena Mihailovic and Maddy Steere for the Cronulla Sharks.
Teams were neck and neck, goal for goal for the first half, but in the end the well-oiled Balmain Tigers were too good, claiming an 11-6 win.
GAME 4: UTS BALMAIN TIGERS V UNSW WESTS MAGPIES MEN
Battle of the Olympic goal keepers, with London Olympian James Clark protecting the cage for the UTS Balmain Tigers and Dual Olympian Joel Dennerley in goals for UNSW Wests Magpies.
UNSW depth across the pool, with four current KAP7 Aussie Sharks players gave them the upper hand over their opponents.
In the end, Wests took a convincing lead to, final score 15-7.
