European Tour beckons for Born 1999 Women

The Australian Women's Born 1999 squad heads to Europe next month, providing the squad with valuable international experience through training camps and competitions.

The Netherlands and Hungary will play host to the Australian squad as part of their three-week tour from August 3-17.

The tour will be a building block for the young side who will complete a mixture of pool, conditioning and educational sessions, with a number of training games against host nations (official matches to be confirmed).

Australian Women's Born 1999 Head Coach Georgina Kovacs-Muller says the tour is important for providing the athletes with a taste of international water polo.

“Learning about ourselves as a team, making progress in certain elements of the game and being able to complete the tour without any injuries will be a great start to our journey.

“Training and competing against two quality sides will be very beneficial for us, and my expectations for the group will be focused on building our strengths.

“We will trial different tactical plays and have a strong focus on basic water polo skills, however, building our desired team culture will have equal importance,” she said.

Coach Kovacs-Muller has named the squad for the European tour.
