COVID19 I International Competitions Update

Water Polo Australia received notification from FINA overnight that international competitions have been postponed due to COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus).
The following decisions by FINA were made concerning the Water Polo events:
Women's Water Polo Olympic Games Qualification Tournament will be held at 17-24 May 2020 in Trieste (ITA). One month before, on 20 April, it will be decided if the tournament will be in Trieste or other national federation organizes.
Men's Water Polo Olympic Games Qualification Tournament will be held at 31st May- 7th June 2020 in Rotterdam (NED). One month before, on 30 April, it will be decided if the tournament will be in Rotterdam or other national federation organizes.
All games of the Men's and Women's Water Polo World League are postponed from now on, and will be played in September-October 2020. The exact dates will follow.
At present, the KAP7 Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers will continue to train and compete in the OVO Australian Water Polo League as scheduled. Plans for Australian based training camps post the AWL are currently being looked at.
Based on the advice of the AOC and current communications from the IOC, our Aussie Stingers and KAP7 Aussie Sharks are planning for Tokyo 2020 Olympics as we have been which are due to commence on 24 July.
Water Polo Australia is currently working with Australian athletes based overseas.
