INTERNATIONAL WATER POLO RETURNS DOWN UNDER AS PERTH HOSTS THE LARGEST FESTIVAL OF WATER POLO

For the first time since the Covid pandemic, international water polo is returning to Australia as Perth hosts the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships that will also feature a Tri-Nations Test Series.
Australia will host teams from USA and Japan in the three test match series, providing local fans the opportunity to see world class water polo on home soil.
The Aussie Stingers will take on the USA Women’s team, who are the reigning Olympic Champions, with the Aussie Sharks to play Japan.
The international test series headlines the 2023 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships which is currently underway across Perth from 9-19 January, with more than 2000 junior water polo participants taking part in the two week festival.
Water Polo Australia CEO Richard McInnes, said it was great to have international water polo back in Australia.
“For the first time since 2020, we are pleased to welcome back international teams to Australia to provide our local fans the opportunity to see world class water polo live.
“Hosting the Tri-Nations Test Series also provides us with the opportunity to give the 2,000 junior water polo players the chance to see their heroes in action.
“The Tri-Nations Test Series will also be broadcast live on Kayo Freebies, providing Australian water polo fans and the broader sports fans across our country the opportunity to watch our Olympians and Olympic hopefuls represent their country on home soil.
“We are thrilled to bring the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, our largest marquee event, to Perth for the first time and would like to thank the West Australian Government for their support,” he said.

“Sports fans are in for a real treat.
“WA is all about hosting major events across a wide range of sports.
“So we are really pleased to be hosting both the Tri-Nations series and the Australian Youth Water Polo series,” he said.
The Australian Youth Water Polo Championships will be held from 9-19 January 2022.
The Tri-Nations Test Series will be held at HBF Stadium Perth and broadcast live on Kayo Freebies.
