Joelie Chisholm steps down as Water Polo Australia CEO

Published Wed 26 Feb 2020

Since November 2019 Water Polo Australia (WPA) CEO, Joelie Chisholm, has been compassionate leave after her mother was diagnosed with a serious illness. During this period Richard McInnes has been Acting CEO of WPA.

With compassionate leave drawing to a close Joelie has made the difficult decision to put her family first, and as such has resigned as CEO of Water Polo Australia.   Joelie and her family will head back to the UK in April for an extended period to spend time with family.

To reduce disruption and to allow for smooth continuation of Tokyo preparations, the WPA Board has appointed Richard McInnes as CEO until 30 September 2020. Joelie will be continuing to assist Richard and the staff, on a part time basis, until April during the transition phase.

The Board would like to recognise and thank Joelie for the outstanding contribution she has made to the sport.  These include the delivery of the inaugural Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, one of Australia’s most successful international season and the implementation of operational improvements to strengthen WPA.

The Water Polo Australia Board, staff and community wish Joelie and her family all the best.
