JUNIOR MEN’S TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR NEW ZEALAND AND EUROPE TOURS

Published Thu 02 Jun 2022

Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce the squads for the upcoming Junior Men’s Tours in New Zealand and Europe.

With limited access to international competitions in the past two years, and the FINA Junior Men’s World Championships scheduled for 2023, the tours will provide a great opportunity for the squads to develop and play against other national teams.

Junior Men’s Head Coach Vedran Cirkovic said it is an exciting time for the squad, and he’s looking forward to the upcoming tours.

“With this generation playing FINA World Championships in 2023, it is vital for our preparation that we are exposed to quality international competition this year,” Cirkovic said.

“Whilst this group first toured Europe in 2018, they have not been overseas since then due to COVID.

“So this tour will be crucial for not only our World Championships preparation, but the longer term development of these players,” he said.

The first tour for the Junior Men will be to Serbia and Montenegro from 4-20 July, with a second group travelling to New Zealand from 24 July to 2 August.

The New Zealand tour will provide an opportunity for the men transitioning out of Junior Programs to play and train alongside the New Zealand Senior Men’s team. This will be an important development opportunity with World University Games and senior opportunities on the horizon for this group.

Water Polo Australia would like to congratulate the following athletes on their selection:
