Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce KAP7 has signed on as the naming rights sponsor of the Aussie Sharks and the 2020 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.
The new partnership, which includes naming rights to the men’s national team, will deliver a major boost for the Aussie Sharks as their preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games intensify.
The deal will also see KAP7 as the naming rights partner of the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, the largest water polo event in the Southern Hemisphere. KAP7 are keen to work with WPA to build on the success of the inaugural event and ensure its growth in Australia.
The 2020 KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, as they will now be known, will see 187 teams of players aged 10-18 converge on Brisbane, Queensland for the two-week tournament starting 11 January.
Water Polo Australia Chief Executive Officer, Joelie Chisholm, said since KAP7 joined the WPA partnership ranks in 2019, they have had a clear objective of helping grow the sport from the grassroots through to the elite.
“The support of KAP7 will give our sport a significant boost in support of our grassroots competition as well as our elite men’s players, who on top of their training are also fundraising for their Tokyo 2020 campaign to cover the funding gaps,” Chisholm said.
“Last year we saw first-hand what having a leading equipment provider in KAP7 can do for Water Polo in Australia and we are thrilled that they have increased their level of support for all levels of the game.
“Not only will their support aid our Aussie Sharks preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games but will also help us to continue to grow participation through the 2020 KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships,” she said.
KAP7 Director Tessa Green said that KAP7 is delighted to partner with Australian Water Polo.
“The extended deal with Water Polo Australia is a very exciting prospect in what will be one of the biggest years for water polo players everywhere,” Green said.
Fellow KAP7 Director Tara Mackay added that KAP7 was proud to extent the partnership with Water Polo Australia.
“In our first year supporting Water Polo Australia, we saw for ourselves the great impact the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships had, and the opportunities for players from all around Australia. We are thrilled we can work with WPA to grow the event and provide quality competition for Clubs across Australia,” Mackay said.
“The Aussies Sharks have delivered some fantastic results in the last 12 months and we were keen to show our support in the build up to their Olympic campaign. We’re excited to support them to reach their full potential in their quest for glory at Olympic level,” she said.
