There will be more offers coming to assist getting more people playing water polo, with announcements coming over the next few days.

Water Polo Australia CEO, Richard McInnes, said there is a real desire from members to return to training and playing and the States and Water Polo Australia wanted to offer extended membership to make it easier for people to get back into the pool, without having to pay for any membership until September.

“With our 2019-2020 season cut short during to COVID-19 and some members missing their traditional end of season events or winter competitions, the State Associations together with Water Polo Australia wanted to extend our membership until 31 August 2020, to make up for those months missed during the pandemic,” said McInnes.

“We hope this delay will assist families who may have impacted financially through COVID19.

“All levels of the sport have been in regular contact during the pandemic and we want to make it as easy as possible for members to get back to enjoying water polo.

“Memberships for the 2020-2021 season will open on 1 September 2020, with further announcements around competition dates and venues to be made prior to the start of season.

“Water Polo Australia appreciates the support of the community during these difficult months and we asked for continued patience while each State Associations work through the return to play protocols for their specific regions.

“Please keep up-to-date with your relevant State’s updates on training, competitions and Club protocols around COVID-19 as it does differ for each State.

“We are eager to once again welcome everyone back to water polo and we will have information available soon around national competitions and programs coming up.
