Fremantle Water Polo Club have pulled off back to back wins at Bicton Pool in front of local fans against two highly fancied Queensland Thunder sides as part of the round eight OVO Play live stream match.
In his post match interview Fremantle Mariners’ captain Joel Swift said it was good to get the points.
"We're happy with the win, but we know it wasn't our best performance.
"We played pretty well last match (Thursday night), so we set a pretty high benchmark and I think we were a bit below that tonight," he said.
In terms of the new rules in place this season, Swift was generally quite supportive of them.
"Yeah it's a bit of a mixed bag,, but we're pretty happy with the new rules.
"I am not as fit as I used to be, so I'm pretty happy with the change lane so I can come out a bit faster now," said Swift.
Fremantle clocked up eight individual goal scorers with veterans Joel Swift and Jordan Kremers-Taylor both finishing on three goals apiece in the 14-7 win.
In the women's game, Fremantle Marlins handed Queensland Thunder their third consecutive loss in as many days proving just how difficult the Perth road trip can be for visiting sides.
While Thunder tried valiantly, Queenslander's Bronwen Knox and Charlize Andrews both put in a three goal performance, however it wasn't enough for their side in the end.
Marlins were in fine form with both Glencora McGhie and Zoe Arancini netting four goals each in the impressive 13-9 winning display.
Arancini's four goal haul now means she has scored an impressive 36 goal to date in season 2019.
After round eight, Marlins now sit equal fifth on the ladder as one of three teams on 25 competition points.
