At their newly renovated pool, the ACU Cronulla Sharks took on Drummoyne Devils in the OVO Play live stream match for the last regular round of season 2019 after 11 weeks of action.

For the first time in the Club's history, Drummoyne Devils' men's team claimed the minor premiership by one point with a comfortable 16-7 win over a young Sharks outfit.

Devils didn't have it all their way early on at the shark tank on Saturday with both teams scoreless after the first quarter.

It didn't take long though for the Drummoyne side to kick into action and start displaying some of their great form which has them sitting atop of the table after round 11.

With seven individual goal scorers Devils were ruthless until the very end. The brotherly duo of Blake and Lachlan Edwards led the Devils charge, scoring five and four goals respectively.

As the game opened up towards the end of play, Devils secured a comfortable 16-7 win and with that their first minor premiership since entering the competition in 2008.

Devils captain Aidan Roach says it was a whole team effort to win the minor premiership.

"It's been a good season so far, the boys have been really consistent. We've had tough competition with UNSW Wests and Fremantle but we managed at the end of the day to get number one, but it's not number one at this time of the season that counts, hopefully next weekend we come out on top.

"Regardless of who our opponent is (for the their semi-finals match) I'm sure it will be a tough game and we'll take it one match at a time and get our systems right and hopefully it's enough to get us into the gold medal final.

Fellow teammate and men's OVO AWL competition leading goal scorer with 53 goals after 11 rounds Blake Edwards said the group clicked very early in the season.

"I couldn't of got all those goals without my teammates.

"It surprised me a bit how well it has all come together, having a lot of fresh faces I thought it might take a bit of time, but even from the first game we lost to UNSW Wests it looked good and there were lots of positive signs.

"The group has gelled really well, we all get along and we're really good mates outside the pool. There have been a lot of selfless efforts which has put us in this position," he said.

Over in the women's fixture, ACU Cronulla Sharks needed a win to sure up their spot in the Finals Series.

In a tense tussle, the cross town rivals were neck and neck throughout the match and with scores locked at 12 a piece at full time, the match was sent into penalties.

Sharks leading goal scorer Kiara Holden was back at it again, netting four goals to help inspire her side on Saturday, but not to be outdone Drummoyne import Roser Tarrago tallied seven goals and extended her lead atop of the women's overall competition goal scorers list to 77.

During the dramatic penalty shoot out, Tasma Woolley converted her penalty shot to clinch the victory and end Drummoyne Devils' season on a high with the 16-15 win.
