Water Polo Australia (WPA) is excited to announce Isabella Andersson as the OVO Australian Waterpolo League (OVO AWL) Manager, beginning her new role from 25 February.

Andersson joins the WPA team coming from Water Polo Queensland where she has served as the Competitions, Events and Club Services Coordinator for two years.

With a strong passion for water polo and a deep understanding about the administration of the game, Andersson is eager to continue improving Australia’s national water polo competition.

Water Polo Australia CEO, Joelie Chisholm, says Andersson’s extensive knowledge of the sport from the grassroots to an elite level combined with her event management experience, will serve the OVO AWL well.

“We are excited to welcome Isabella to WPA and are confident her knowledge, experience and water polo competition expertise, will allow her to drive growth in our national league.

“Isabella is a strong communicator with solid relationships with many of the water polo clubs and stakeholders. Her enthusiastic attitude will make her a great asset for the ten national league clubs,” said Chisholm.

After excelling in her position at Water Polo Queensland and playing an important role in the implementation of the 2019 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, Andersson is eager to commence later this month.

“I am really excited about working towards implementing a national water polo league all stakeholders including WPA, State Associations, clubs and members can be proud of.

“One of the key areas I will be focusing on in the role is to create good relationships with the clubs and take the time to listen to ensure the needs of all stakeholders are met,” she said.

Andersson has been involved in water polo since a young age as a player which included five seasons in the national water polo league but has more recently extended her involvement to refereeing and coaching.

WPA would also like to recognise and thank Cara O’Neill for her contribution as acting OVO AWL Manager while conducting the search.
