Queensland's top water polo talent will go head to head in the inaugural Water Polo Queensland Premier League.
The competition kicks off on Sunday 11 October, with eight rounds held over four weekends, including the all important finals which are set to be held at Yeronga Pool (Brisbane) on Sunday 22 November.
Water Polo Queensland CEO Mel Woosnam said she’s excited to see water polo talent from across the South East Queensland come together to battle it out.
“The new Premier League competition is an exciting addition to our calendar and a great opportunity for our State’s best players to endure some tough competition,” Woosnam said.
“There are a number of Olympians and Olympic hopefuls spread across the six women’s and six men’s teams, which will make for an interesting competition.
“It will also be good to see some of our current Aussie Stingers and KAP7 Aussie Sharks in the water in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as some of the legends of our game.
20 years on from their historic gold medal win, Sydney 2000 Olympic champions Naomi McCarthy and Jo Clark will also feature in the new competition.
The first round of the Water Polo Queensland Premier League kicks off at St Andrew's Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday 11 October, before heading to Valley Pool in Brisbane for round two on Sunday 25 October.
