ROAD TO PERTH: ONE STEP AT A TIME FOR BRISBANE VIKINGS
Published Wed 28 Dec 2022
For many players, teams and clubs, the 2023 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships will be their first time at the event.
And for one of those clubs, Brisbane Vikings, they couldn’t be more excited.
For the first time, the Queensland based club will be sending an 18&U Girls team to the event.
Coach Kai Majoros said his team are excited for the opportunity and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
“Our 18&U Girls have been busy working on their team dynamic with training, fundrasing and team bonding activities, all in preparation for the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships,’ Majoros said.
“As one of our clubs first junior teams, they have been working hard in the local Brisbane Water Polo Competition…many of our team have played together for three seasons now.
“The team has a strong regional contingency, who are aptly supported by Brisbane metro based players.
“The girls relish any opportunity to play water polo, and work with our coaches and managers, so are really looking forward to the adventure to Perth,” he said.
When it comes to goals, Majoros said they believe the ones they have set are achievable.
“For many of our players and coaches, this is the first time they have been to Perth,” Majoros said.
“Our team’s goals are to enjoy the experience, learn from the opportunity to play against new opponents, and improve our resilience as players and individuals.
“After several years of competition at home, we are looking forward to heading West and experiencing some of the beautiful attractions Perth has to offer.
“We will also enjoy the chance to watch the Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers. To be able to see some of the nation’s best players is obviously a great opportunity for anyone who loves their water polo,” he said.
