Tokyo Olympic Games draw released

With just over 150 days to go until the Tokyo Olympic Games, FINA has released the draws that will determine which countries our Australian men’s and women’s teams will face in the pool stages at the Olympics.

The first draw saw the women’s pool stages decided with the Aussie Stingers set to face Spain, Canada, South Africa and the Netherlands in Group A.

The Netherlands are returning to the Olympic Games for the first time since 2008 when they clinched the title.  Group B, will include Russia, China, Hungary, Japan and the reigning Olympic Games champions the United States.

For the Men, the KAP7 Aussie Sharks will face Croatia, Spain, Kazakhstan, Montenegro and reigning Olympic Games champion Serbia in Group B.

Group A features Hungary, Italy, South Africa, Japan, Greece and the United States.

Interestingly, Hungary, the USA and Japan have been drawn together in both the men’s and the women’s tournament.
