UPDATE ON AUSTRALIAN YOUTH WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS
Published Mon 14 Sep 2020
As the weather is warming up we know that member sign ons are starting in most states. The 2021 Australian Youth Championships are scheduled for 11-23 January 2021 in Brisbane.
Water Polo Australia is currently working with Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council around developing our COVID safe plans.
We appreciate with border restrictions and lock downs in place in some parts of the country, there is uncertainty around commitment to travel and team nominations.
So here are some steps we are taking to help out:
- Team Nominations for the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC) will be delayed opening until October - to provide further time to gain a clearer picture around border restrictions.
- 12 October - a decision will be made by Water Polo Australia in relation to the whether the AYWPC will proceed during the previously published dates or a decision made to postpone the Championships to later in 2021
- If the event proceeds as previously published in January - entries will open following the decision in mid October.
We know the water polo community, like the rest of the country, realises that these are unprecedented times and we will do our best to keep you informed as to any potential changes.
WPA are very conscious of the need for teams and families to book flights, accommodation as well as other holiday activities. With that in mind we are attempting to make a decision as early as possible, but not too prematurely.
Here is some information to help get your planning underway:
- Competition Manual - including competition rules, eligibility requirements, about the seedings and draws, policies and procedures and much more.
- Frequently Asked Questions - some of the questions you might have around what is coming up.
