WATER POLO AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES NEW DATE FOR ANNUAL AWARDS

Water Polo Australia is pleased to announce that the WPA Annual Awards will be held on Friday 28 April 2023 in Sydney.

Tickets are now on sale for Water Polo Australia's night of nights alongside the Australian Waterpolo League Finals Series.

The Water Polo Australia Awards are designed to recognise the contributions and achievements of players, coaches, officials and volunteers at both a community and high performance level.

Awards to be presented on the night include Outstanding Achievement (Athlete), Performance Coach of the Year, Program of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Water Polo Coach of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year.

WPA CEO Richard McInnes said it will be another great opportunity to bring the water polo community together.\

"We're pleased to confirm that the Water Polo Australia Awards will be held in Sydney on Friday 28 April," McInnes said.

"The Awards were designed to recognise the contributions and achievements of our players, coaches, officials and volunteers, both at a community and high performance level.

"After celebrating the Awards online in 2022, we're looking forward to bringing the community together to cap off another sensational season of water polo.

“The 2022-2023 season was a full return to competition nationally for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been great to again see a buzz around pools, strong participation numbers and fans reconnecting with the sport. 

“The Water Polo Australia Awards Night is our opportunity to celebrate what has been a fantastic year,” he said. 

Originally scheduled to be held during the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships in January, the event had to be postponed.
