The Green & Gold Runway to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games starts today, with sports across Australia gearing up to make the most of this unique opportunity.

The next decade is an opportunity to unearth a new generation of water polo talent as we support the chance to connect with the Australian community to encourage more people to Have A Go.

Celebrations are being held across Queensland to mark the occasion, and fans, athletes, coaches and volunteers can start to get excited because the next 10 years will also bring more international and high-quality sporting events.

This will provide more opportunities to get involved and see the best of the best in action on home soil.

Water Polo Australia GM of Performance, Charles Turner said after seeing the first-hand impact of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, it is exciting to see another home Olympic Games.

“Water polo saw first hand what a home Olympic Games in Sydney could do to inspire a whole new generation of athletes after our women’s team won the first-ever gold medal, '' he said.

“Our time starts now to build and attract new players and coaches into our Olympic programs so that we can once again make the most of the unique opportunity that a home Olympic Games will present come 2032.

“No matter your age, size, shape, culture or skill - water polo is a sport for all and we would love to see all Australians make our sport, your sport,” he added.

Water Polo Australia is looking forward to seeing how the sport will grow over the next 10 years with the young people of today having the chance to be Australian Olympians in 2032.
