WATER POLO AUSTRALIA CELEBRATES 2024 ANNUAL AWARDS
Published Fri 26 Apr 2024
The Water Polo Australia community came together tonight to celebrate the 2024 Annual Awards.
Tonight the community gathered to recognise the achievements of individuals, clubs and programs achieved at the grassroots and elite levels of the sport.
The WPA Annual Awards coincides with the Australian Waterpolo League Finals Series, with the top teams in the country going head to head at Sydney Olympic Park for a spot in Sunday’s all important medal matches.
Water Polo Australia CEO Tim Welsford said: "Congratulations to all of our award winners celebrated tonight at the 2024 Water Polo Australia Awards.
"It has been a massive season, that will come to a head on Sunday with the finals of the Australian Waterpolo League.
"Our sport would not exist without the support of our community, and it was wonderful to pause to celebrate that," he said.
2024 Volunteer of the Year Tammy Taylor (SA) said: "It's really nice to be recognised for all the hardwork for nearly 10 years since my first son started playing.
"You don't do it for the recognition, but it's nice when someone from your community says thank you," she said.
Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks co-captain Nathan Power was presented with the 2024 Ord Minnett Senior Athlete of the Year Award.
"It's been a massive cycle for the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks and I'm honoured to receive this award," Power said.
"Paris is fast approaching and I'm super excited for the next few months, with Olympic selections and our upcoming European tour," he said.
