WHY HELLO PERIOD IS BACKING WATER POLO AUSTRALIA

Hello Period was recently announced as the official period care partner for Water Polo Australia.
Hear from Hello Period CEO, Co-Founder and Marketing Director Robyn McLean:
Young players are more likely to drop out of the sport around the age when they get their periods and we want to reduce that by ensuring young players have the right education about period care options that work well in water.
I loved playing water polo when I was a teen. But there was one aspect I wasn’t fond of - playing when I had my period. The sensation of soggy tampons still haunts me today. In principle tampons can be worn during swimming. In reality, when there's a tampon in there, it absorbs that water.
If only I had known about menstrual cups and discs in those days. Not only do they hold more and are more comfy, but they form a barrier so no period blood gets out but also ensures that no pool water gets in!
When Water Polo Australia approached us about working together it was a no-brainer for me. Those memories of soggy tampons immediately came ‘flooding’ back and it didn’t take much convincing for us to come onboard. I can’t wait to share what we do with more people.
Through our partnership with Water Polo Australia we’re really looking forward to educating players, coaches and supporters of the benefits of sustainable, reusable period care and showing them what a game-changer (pun 100% intended) it can be. Periods shouldn’t be a reason for people to feel they can’t play sport. We’re so passionate about ensuring young people with periods feel they are empowered and armed with all the knowledge they need to make when it comes to how they can manage periods in a way that doesn’t impact on them being able to do the things they want to do.
