The World University Games - 2019 Summer Universiade - will be held from 2-14 July in Napoli, Italy. Napoli 2019 will be the 25th Summer Universaide that the Australian UniRoos will compete at, continuing a long and proud history of success.

Women: HUN 7 d AUS 4
In a narrow loss for the Aussie women, Hungary proved too strong for the women’s team which will now see them go into the 5-8 semi-final play off against China.

Men: RUS 13 d AUS 7
In the Quarter Finals, the Aussie men have gone down to Russia 13-7 which will see them now play in the 5-8 semi final against France.

Men: AUS 21 d KOR 4
Aussie men have bounced back in a big way to take a convincing 21-4 win of the Republic of Korea in the cross over match. The team are now set to face Russia in the quarter-finals.

Women: AUS 11 d USA 9
Aussie women have delivered a solid win over powerhouse USA college team 11-9, to bounce back after a narrow loss the day prior.
Tess Hoskings said: “We fought all the way to the end, first quarter was probably our best, so lots of things to improve on. We are trying to be consistent throughout the game and hold on to everything we are trying to do.

Men: HUN 18 d AUS 6
Damien Williams: “A tough game against the top guys in the world we pieced a good quarter in the second went got 2 all. Just struggled in the start going down five-nil and the more experienced players put us away later in the game.”

Women: ITA 9 d AUS 7
Hosts Italy have done it again, proving too strong for the visitors this time in the women’s game taking a win over Australia 9-7.
Genevieve Longman said: “A huge improvement from us, going down to Italy 9-7. But a really positive step up from game against Russia, we are really looking to build on our attack, and fix some of the errors in our defence as we look to take on USA tomorrow night.”

Hosts Italy used their home ground advantage to the most, taking a decisive 18-5 win over the Australian Men’s team.

European heavy weights Russia proved too strong for the Aussie Women’s team in their second game, going down 7-17.

Men: AUS 15 d JPN 14
The Aussie men have bounced back in their second game to clutch a narrow one-point win over rivals Japan.
Tom McJannett said: “It was a high intensity game. They killed us on the counter early, but we stuck to our game plan and we came back, really clawed our way back into the game.
We played some really good water polo, got physical with them and really manned up to the them and showed them what we are capable of.”

Women: AUS 15 d CHN 4
Australia’s Women’s team opened their campaign well with a solid 15-4 win over China to set up the tournament.
Pascalle Casey said: “It was awesome to get the win against China. It was pretty close at the beginning at half time it was 7-3 but the girls took it away at the end. It was a great way to start the tournament and get our confidence up for the games ahead.”
