Following an expression of interest process, Water Polo Australia (WPA) has formed the Coaching and Refereeing Advisory Committee (CRAC).
The purpose of this group is to provide support and advice to WPA via the General Manager - Learning and Development, as well as the WPA National Referees Coordinator, in relation to the technical aspects of coaching and refereeing, and the operational delivery of strategic initiatives to enhance the attraction, retention, development and performance of coaches and referees across water polo in Australia, consistent with the National Strategic Framework.
The CRAC is responsible for:
- Providing subject matter expertise to the development of coach and referee development curriculum.
- Providing guidance, support and feedback in relation to delivery mechanisms of coach and referee learning and development.
- Leverage existing relationships to enhance and develop a culture of learning and development across water polo in Australia.
WPA CEO Richard McInnes was pleased with the range of people who nominated to be part of developing our new Learning and Development Framework.
“The Coaching and Refereeing Advisory Committee comprises a broad range of people with different coaching backgrounds and experience which is critical as the Learning and Development framework will support everyone from first time coaches and referees through to our Olympic performers,” McInnes said.
“Katie Foulkes, the General Manager - Learning and Development, will lean on this group for technical expertise as we refine and enhance the development experience, and opportunities, for our coaches and referees.
“The group has already met several times, and Katie has also conducted a number of one on one consultations with committee members and other key stakeholders in the community,” he said.
The CRAC currently comprises of 20 members. The WPA Coaching and Referees Advisory Committee members are:
