Water Polo Australia confirms National Age Group Program coaches for 2022

Water Polo Australia (WPA) is pleased to confirm the National Age Group Program (NAGP) Coaches for 2022.

The first opportunity for the NAGP coaches will arise in the new year, with camps for the Cadet and Youth men and women to be held in Brisbane in conjunction with the 2022 Summer Slam.

The Summer Slam will also be a selection opportunity for the Junior Men and Women squads.

With opportunities limited in the last two years due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, junior international competition will also return in 2022, with the FINA World Championships set to be held for both the Cadet and Youth age groups.

WPA General Manager - Performance Charles Turner said he is impressed with the calibre of coaches who will be part of the 2022 program.

“This group of coaches has a wealth of knowledge and experience among them, and will be tasked with helping to develop the next generation of Aussie Sharks and Stingers,” Turner said.

“It is pleasing to see that some of our former and recently retired Olympians are now pursuing poolside coaching opportunities, including four-time Olympian Richie Campbell who recently retired following the Tokyo Olympic Games.

“2022 is shaping up to be a big year for our National Age Group Programs, and I look forward to working closely with this group of coaches as we prepare to return to international competitions,” he said.
