Water Polo Australia has announced the Australia women’s and men’s teams selected to compete at the inaugural World Aquatics Water Polo 4×4 Open World Championships in Dubrovnik, Croatia from 31 August to 6 September.
The championships will mark the global launch of Water Polo 4×4, a new fast-paced format featuring fewer players, a smaller field and quicker transitions, designed to complement traditional water polo and broaden the sport’s reach.
Australia will be represented by eight athletes in each of the women’s and men’s competitions, and the teams will be coached by Scott Nicholson, Petar Trbojevic and Debbie Watson.
The competition will be held in Dubrovnik’s historic Old Port, with a preliminary phase followed by knockout and classification matches.
