Ord Minnett Expands Support of Water Polo Australia as host of World Cup Finals in Sydney

22 Jun 2026

Prominent Australian wealth management and investment firm Ord Minnett has expanded their support of Water Polo in Australia, confirming their status as the National Partner of the 2026 World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Finals to be held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from 22-26 July.

This partnership builds on Ord Minnett’s title sponsorship of the Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers, reflecting the depth and significance of their commitment to water polo in Australia at both a national and international level.

The announcement extends their commitment to one of the most prestigious water polo events ever staged on Australian soil and will also celebrate a new brand identity for both Australian National teams.

On the eve of the tournament commencing, the Ord Minnett Aussie Sharks and Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers will unveil a heritage emblem and team brand marks, ushering in a new era that features a striking visual identity supported by aspirational taglines. Ord Minnett has been consulted throughout the creative design process, including contributions from Chief Marketing Officer, Siobhan Keaton.

The 2026 World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Finals will showcase the top eight men’s and women’s national teams from around the world with Australia to compete for World Cup glory alongside powerhouse nations like Italy, Spain, USA, Hungary and more.

Water Polo Australia CEO Tim Welsford said Ord Minnett’s involvement at this level reflected a partnership built on genuine shared values.

“Ord Minnett’s support has been transformative for water polo in Australia. From Naming Rights Sponsor of our national teams over the last three years through to their upcoming presence at this global event, they are a true partner in every sense.

“We’re more than thrilled to have them on board for this memorable occasion in our sport.

“The 2026 World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Finals will be a pivotal moment for our sport in Australia and an important milestone as part of the green and gold runway towards Brisbane.

“To deliver world class events we need world class partners and Ord Minnett has shown time and time again their commitment to our sport,” he said.

Ord Minnett Managing Director and CEO Karl Morris said the organisation continues to support Water Polo Australia and its goal of growing the game in Australia.

“From day one, we’ve been proud to partner with Water Polo Australia – supporting athletes at every level, from grassroots through to the international stage, to perform at their very best.

“Hosting the World Cup on home soil is a powerful advantage for our Stingers and Sharks, and we’re excited to back their pursuit of becoming world champions,” he said.

The connection between the two organisations goes beyond the pool. Ord Minnett has also worked with elite athletes and Olympians across its business, including Ord Minnett Aussie Stingers player Abby Andrews.

The dual Olympian is a proud Ords’ Ambassador whose drive, professionalism and financial-career aspirations has made her a natural fit for the sponsor.
